I did some research and found an update about the woman who won $42.9 million on the slot machine and the casino said it was a malfunction. The Colorado Gaming Commission said that the chances of the woman getting the $42.9 million is very slim. That particular slot machine was designed to pay a maximum of $250,000. They can chalk this up to a programming error.
In all likelihood, whether it's right or wrong, Ms. Chavez will most likely receive whatever the proper payout should be based on what came up on the wheels, not the sum of money that flashed on the screen. She and her attorney may have a bone to pick with the slot-machine manufacturer, however. If they can prove fraud, she'll have a chance at the $42.9 million. But still - a quarter of a million bucks is nothing to sneeze at.
