File Under: WTF?

Wild Brawl Breaks Out at Alabama Buffet Restaurant Over Crab Legs, 2 People Arrested
Patrons were allegedly using tongs to fight each other at Meteor Buffet in Huntsville, Alabama
February 27, 2019 09:51 PM
Hungry patrons at a local buffet in Alabama took hangry to a new level when a fight broke out allegedly over crab legs Friday.
The unexpected brawl went down at Meteor Buffet in Huntsville as diners were waiting to feast on a freshly boiled batch of crab legs, according to multiple reports.
Among the restaurant goers was Huntsville police officer Gerald Johnson, who recalled hearing yelling and tongs clashing as he was just about to dive into his meal.
“Literally, as I sat down and maybe took two bites out of my plate,” Johnson told WHNT 19 News. “There’s a woman who’s beating a man. People are moving around, plates are shattering everywhere.”
“It’s not something you typically hear, if you can imagine a fencing match,” Johnson said of the guests allegedly using tongs as weapons.
As for why the altercation took place, Johnson told WHNT 19 News “Everyone was saying, ‘They cut me in line. She cut me in line. He cut me in line. I was here first.'”
“They’d been waiting there for the crab legs for a good 10, 20 minutes. When they finally came out, it’s very heated. Especially if someone is taking more than their fair share,” Johnson told the news station.
Following the fight, police arrested John Chapman and Chequita Jenkins, the Associated Press reported.
Jenkins, who was at the eatery with her children, has been charged with third-degree assault and Chapman has been charged with disorderly conduct.
Chapman sustained a cut on his head while Jenkins was uninjured.  Chapman will appear in court on March 21, WHNT 19 News reported.
A lawyer for either Jenkins or Chapman could not immediately be found.  Officer Johnson told the outlet that both Chapman and Jenkins allegedly admitted to letting their temper cloud their judgment.

Thank You, Stranger At Wendy's

I stopped at Wendy's on the way home today to pick up two side salads to go along with our steak and baked potatoes tonight.  The drive-thru line was wrapped around the building, so I parked and went in.  It took forever to be waited on, and when I finally placed my order and put my debit card into the POS machine, it was declined.  Stupid me grabbed my HSA debit card instead of my regular debit card.  I apologized to the girl behind the counter and said I'd run out and get my debit card from the card.  The guy behind me asked the girl how much it was.  She told him $4:19" and he said he'd pay it forward.  I told him that was a nice offer but I picked up the wrong debit card and had the money to pay.  He told me to not worry about it.  I got my salads, and gave the guy a big hug and a big thank you, and told him I would definitely pay it forward on my next visit at Wendy's.

Just Another Manic Tuesday

Today was just another Manic Tuesday.  Drama at work, and drama at The Compound.  I am hoping for a Silent Night.

Just Another Manic Monday

This Monday wasn't really all that manic.  In fact, I just said that.  It wasn't a bad Monday at all at the work place.  I can only hope for an equally non-dramatic day tomorrow.

Thank You, Fox Sports Ohio

TWIT and I would like to thank Fox Sports Ohio for showing all of the Cincinnati Reds pre-season and regular season games.  The Old Man is happily in his recliner now waiting for the pre-season game to start in a few minutes.

FSO - you rock!

Happy National Margarita Day

TWIT and I would like to wish everyone a very happy National Margarita Day.

It's not even 7:00 here on EST, so everyone has plenty of time to get to their favorite Mexican restaurant or watering hole and get a good Margarita.

We will be getting the blender out shortly and fixing Margaritas for the 'Rents and I to celebrate.

So Happy It's Thursday.  That's about all I can say tonight.

Sinus Issues

Another major front moved in today, and brought along with it a ton of rain (two inches from midnight last night until I left for work this morning).  It also brought with it a ton of havoc on everyone's sinuses.  Just about everyone I talked to at work today was having sinus issues because of the pressure, yours including.  My head has felt like an elephant was standing on it all day long.  The ton (key word) of Advil I took today has helped a bit and as of now I have no sinus pain.  Stay tuned.  I'm sure that will change soon.

Hat's Off To The Old Man

TWIT and I would like to give a big hat's off to The Old Man tonight.  He scored a major homerun with supper tonight.  He and my Sweet Mother made one of our favorites, Burrito Casserole.  We all three ate till we couldn't eat anymore.  Well, that's not entirely true.  We're waiting for our Burrito Casserole to digest so we can have some ice cream later.

Thanks again, Old Man.  You rock in the kitchen.

I, Too, Have A Dream

Like Martin Luther King Jr, I, too, have a dream.  I have a dream where just one day, I won't have to go to any type of store.

Not Sunny Sunday

It's been yet another cold, drizzly gray day here in the Ohio Valley.  The only thing that this kind of day is good for is to take a nap.  We've been doing our part here at The Compound.  I think it's time for another nap in my nice new bed.  Stay tuned.

Sunny Saturday

The sun has been out ever since I got up this morning, and that is an awesome thing.  When you add up all of the days that we've had rain this year, seeing the suns has been a rarity.

Meet The New Love Of My Life

I would like everyone to meet the new love of my life --- my new queen sized bed, complete with an extra firm mattress.

We've been together for a couple of weeks, and I am going on record to say that this will be a long lasting relationship.

Happy Valentine's Day

TWIT and I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Valentine's Day.  I'll leave it at there.

Thank You, Denise

TWIT and I would like to thank Denise, my hair stylist for over 40 years, for being able to fit me in today for a haircut.  I hope she doesn't tell anyone how unsightly and long it was.  I'm just thankful she was able to fit me in after work today for a cut.

I've been going to her for over 40 years.  In fact, since the first time I went to her for a cut and a style, she is the only person that has cut and styled my hair.  She is the best, and I told her from day one that if I ever won the lottery, her hair salon days would be over.  And I still will keep that promise to her.

Another Ohio Valley Weather Update

Here at The Compound, in the last 36 hours we've had over three inches of rain.  That's not to mention all the rain we had before the last 36 hours.

As I type this, the rain has stopped and it is very windy.  I hope the wind keeps up tonight to dry up some of this mess.

Thank You, Ann and Nancy Wilson

TWIT and I would like to publicly thank my beloved Ann and Nancy Wilson for putting aside the messiness of the past three years and getting their band Heart back together.

For three long years, the sisters have performed separately.  Today, they relaunched the Heart website and announced their "Love Alive" tour that will happen this summer.

Thanks again, Ann and Nancy.  As always, you rock.

Another Ohio Valley Weather Update

I guess I didn't pay attention to the weatherazzi - we woke this morning to some slick roads and driveways thanks to some sleet.  I'm not ashamed to admit the driveway was slick, and we did encounter a few slick spots on the way to church this morning.  But as it warmed up a few degrees above freezing, the rain started.  Once again, they are calling for a few inches of rain between now and Wednesday.  Needless to say, we are over it.

Happy National Pizza Day

TWIT and I would like to wish everyone a very happy National Pizza Day.  You've been given early notice, so you will have time to plan your afternoon and evening around getting a pizza.

We will be doing our part here at The Compound by getting pizza this evening from our beloved Bonnie and Clyde's.

Happy National Pizza Day!

Another Ohio Valley Weather Update

When I went out to take care of the chickens after supper last night, it was 72 degrees.  When I went out to take care of them this morning, it was 22 degrees, with a wind chill of 9.  Only here in the Ohio Valley.

Another Ohio Valley Weather Update

When this monsoon ends tomorrow, the weatherazzi says we'll have a total of about 5 inches of rain this week.  I sure believe them.

Ohio Valley Weather Update

It's hard to still believe that just days ago we had wind chill factor temperatures below 20.  Once again, today it was almost 70.  With an ass load of rain.  And we are expecting another ass load of rain tomorrow.  A total of 4-5 inches here in the 'Ville by the time it moves out Friday.  It's supposed to be over 70 tomorrow, and the high Friday is supposed to be 30.  Once again, I'm over it.

Thank You, Cher

I would like to thank Cher for performing an awesome concert last night here in the 'Ville.  This was the fifth or sixth time I've seen her (I forget) and it was her best concert yet.

I know some will bash me for saying this, but it's my blog and I can say whatever I want.  All of the "cookie cutter" young (meaning, under 50) female country, pop, R&B, hip-hop singers would do well to learn from all of Cher's performances over the years.  I'm pretty sure that none of them will be filling big arenas when they are in their 70's.

Super Bowl 53 Recap

As much as I love my Patriots, I will go on record and say that if it hadn't been for Gladys Knight singing the National Anthem, the game would have been a major bust for me.

The commercials:
The only commercial I liked was the NFL 100.  Well done with all of the NFL stars in it.

The game:
Well done, Patriots, led by Tom Brady.

The halftime show:
Not a fan of Maroon Five nor their lead singer Adam Levine, no matter how much a ton of my friends are ape shit crazy over him.  The 'Rents and I reminisced to the Super Bowl back in the 90's when they had the Rolling Stones as the half-time show.

All in all, it was lackluster.

Until next year . . .

Ohio Valley Weather Update

When we came out of church this morning at 12:30, it was 68 degrees.  At that same time on Thursday, just a couple of days ago, the temperature was 7 degrees.  Need I say more?

Goodbye, Polar Vortex

We are very happy to say goodbye to the Polar Vortex that was here for a few days this week.  The temps are supposed to be in the low 60's for almost a week.  We'll surely take it.

Welcome, February

Today was the first day in what seems like eternity that the temperature was above freezing.  We all didn't know what to do.

The Girls were all out on the roosting bar in their pen instead of being holed up inside the coop under their heating light.  Nicky Boy next door was grilling out.  And the family next to him was working out in their garage.

I know we've got lots of winter left, but for now, we will all enjoy this break.
