Happy Oaks Day

TWIT and I would like to wish you, faithful readers, a very happy Kentucky Oaks Day.  The sun sure is shining bright this morning on my old Kentucky home.   It's a welcome sight after the monsoons we had Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope you have a winner today!

Wednesday Supper Update

Tonight, the Old Man said I fixed one of his favorite suppers - smoked sausage, pinto beans, and corn bread.  He said it was, and I quote "awesome."   My work here is done.

Happy Derby Week

It's Derby Week, faithful readers, and I am happy to report that Zoeller's team in the Derby Festival Bed Races came in a respectable second place last night.  It was our first time in the contest.  And from the talk I heard today, they are already working on improvements for next year's race.

Stay tuned.

Monday, Monday

I've always been honest with you, faithful readers, and I'm not going to lie -- tonight, I've got a huge chip on my shoulder.  I am praying that I will work through it tonight and not carry it over to tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

Sore Saturday

Yesterday was a Sore Saturday.  It rained most of the day and night, and the dampness sure made my joints and old bones achy.  But there's no rain today, thank goodness, so I'm hoping for a better day.

I realize I'm sounding like an old grandma.

Friday Updates

It was a long hard week at work, and I can't stress enough how glad I am I don't have to go to the office until Monday.

Nuff said.

So Much For Spring, Again

This morning, I had to wear once again the winter coat to work.  It was 35 degrees when I left for work this morning.

Winter, you can go away, and let us enjoy some spring time before we get into summer.

Nuff said.

So Much For Spring

Yesterday, it was 72 and sunny.  Then the bottom fell out late at night.  When we woke up this morning we had an inch a half of snow and it was 35.

Nuff said.

The Day From Hell

This was the day from hell at work.  From about 2:00 on, we couldn't do anything on the computer.  It put us and everyone in the company way way behind on their afternoon work.

At 4:20, the IT Guru called and said things were fixed, so we did the best we could do to get paperwork printed and put in the plant supervisors' mail trays.  But I'm sure some things fell through the cracks.  We'll sort it out tomorrow.

Update From The Compound

The three remaining Girls celebrated their fourth birthday this past week.  But it was not without drama.

I went out this morning to give them some Cheerios, and I noticed that one of the Girls had something wrong with her left eye; specifically, the eye was closed.  Yep - one or both of the other Girls have been picking on her, literally.  I went over and thumped those two on the head and called them mean bitches.

Stay tuned.

New-Used Phone Update

Getting my new-used iPhone was a success last night.  I owe a big debt of thanks to my friend DR up in the IT department for giving me precise instructions so I wouldn't screw it up.

This makes me happy.

TGIF

After a few years with my old iPhone 5 that I use for my business phone, I decided it was time for an upgrade and bought an iPhone 7 Plus on eBay for a hell of a price.

I spent over an hour last night trying (key word) to get my new phone ready to go but no dice.  So I did what anyone would do - I called one of the gurus in out IT department at work and explained my problem to him and he told me exactly what to do step-by-step.

As I post this, my new phone is "preparing for the update."

Stay tuned.

Wednesday, Wednesday

It was another bad allergy day today.  I'm pretty sure it's not a cold and just the usual springtime allergy mess that we deal with here in the Ohio Valley.

Tonight, I'm taking some Benadryl to make sure I sleep good.

Stay tuned.

Tuesday, Tuesday

I had what I hope is allergy issues today - been sneezing and blowing my nose and feeling congested all day.  I am hoping to do nothing tonight after supper but rest. I don't feel bad - the nose is just annoying.

Monday, Monday

I've had sneezing fits all day long, even with taking my allergy meds. I hope we can get a rain shower soon that will get all of the pollen and mold out of the air.  But other than that, it was a good Monday.  For the first Monday in years, I didn't dread going to work -- mainly because over the weekend, new very bright lighting was installed in our area.  And I had a new pen (blue ink of course), too.

Sunday Update

I fixed a stellar dinner today in the air fryer - boneless chicken thighs, with a big salad and rice.  The Old Man said it was awesome, and that's all I needed to hear.

If you have an air fryer and would like my recipe, leave a comment and I will give the recipe to you.

Covid 19 Update

This is Saturday and that meant the weekly trip to the drugstore and to the grocery store.  It was a bit funny to me to see people at both stores forgetting their masks and having to go back to their cars to get them.  You'd think after a full year they'd know the drill.

Arther, You Can Leave

Ole Arther, aka Arthritis, you can leave tonight any time you want to.  Every since supper, my bad foot has ached something terrible.  I've held off taking my arthritis strength Tylenol until shortly before bedtime but it's time to take a couple and hope they kick in during their usual 20 minutes.

Update From The Compound

The past three days, the temperature has been 80 degrees.  When I've gotten home from work, the house has been a bit warm.  But on the sly after supper each night, I flipped the switch and had the a/c on for a few hours to get the humidity out and to make it a bit more comfortable. And the Old Man was non the wiser.  Score one for Puddin.

Updates From The Compound

I was sidetracked last night when our grass cutter came and the Old Man and I were scrambling to get the cash together to pay him, and forgot about posting.

There's not much to update on.  We both are still doing good after our second Covid vaccine, though this weekend we both felt achy, but we're fine today.

And speaking of today, it was the first 80 degree day this year here in the 'Ville.  You know what that means, faithful readers:  Thermostat Wars is on.

Stay tuned.

Sad News From The Compound

After a great week with such awesome happy news about the Old Man, we had a set back last night.  In the chicken coop, we are now down to 3.

I've noticed for the past two months one of the hens has been laying her egg either on the coop floor, the floor of the pen, or heaven forbid, on the ground underneath the coop.  So that led me to believe she was afraid to go to the nesting box to lay.

But every few nights, I would go and pick up each of the four hens and check to make sure there were no feathers missing nor any bloody spots.  And all was well until last night.  I went to get eggs and saw one of my pretty girls that had gone on to meet her maker.

At this point, there's nothing I can do.  It's like Survivor - wait and see if there's one hen standing.

Stay tuned.

April Fools Update

Mother Nature really got a lot of people yesterday with a big April Fools prank -- snow.  We had some flurries here in the 'Ville around mid-day, and several opening day baseball games got heavy flurries.

Thanks a lot, Mother Nature.  You pulled a good one on us.

Happy April Fools Day

I am really missing my Sweet Mama today - as I've mentioned before, April Fools Day was one of her favorite holidays.  She would get me at least 3 or 4 times throughout the day.  I guess because she was so sweet, I never thought of her pranking me.  If she was still here with us, I'm positive she would have gotten me already early this morning.
