Attention: Sharon Stone

I am throwing this out there in a very remote hope that someone might Google this.  That being said, Sharon Stone, my number one favorite actress, is going to be here in Louisville this weekend for the Unbridled Gala and the Kentucky Derby.  If anyone on  her entourage Google's her name and finds this, I would give my right arm to meet her and get an autograph and a picture with her.

I Am Thankful

I am always thankful, but today, I am thankful that I don't have any children.

A friend I graduated with from high school lost her son today due to a drug overdose.

A friend I graduated with from Sullivan College lost her daughter to a drug overdose.

All I can do is pray for my friends children; pray that they make the right choices in life.  And if they don't, pray that someone will be there to help them through.

So Much For That, Again

Once again I lugged tables and two huge plastic tubs full of our barn art pictures and set up at a neighborhood school's spring festival.  And we didn't sell a thing.  In fact, none of the booths around me sold anything.  The only people that made any money today was the concession stand.

I'm still not getting discouraged.  We've come too far with our barn art pictures to give up now.

Update On The Girls

Here's a very disturbing picture of The Girls violently and savagely attacking my Sweet Mother's hand this morning. Even at the young age of two weeks and two days, you can see how savage they've become.

Valuable Life Lesson Learned Today

Today, I learned that people are not always what they seem to be. In this case, they are totally different.  It was a very powerful and valuable life lesson learned today.  Even at 54 years old, I can still learn a few new life lessons

I don't mean to sound naive; I've always known that you can't judge a book by its cover, but today, I found this out in a humongous way.

Happy National Pretzel Day

TWIT would like to wish everyone a very happy National Pretzel Day.

I stopped at Krogers on the way home today and bought a box of big soft pretzels.  Later on tonight, we will microwave them and have them for our evening snack, complete with nacho cheese and mustard, whichever you prefer.

It's not too late - you have time to stop at the grocery store and get a bag of pretzels to celebrate.

Can I Get A Mulligan?

I wish I could get a Mulligan and start over at Monday morning for this week.  Especially for today.  But I know I can't.  Mulligans are only for golf, not real life.  All I can do is just move forward.  And that's what I'm trying to do.  Today has been one of the most emotionally draining days I've had since I can recall.  As I said, all I can do is move forward.

Happy National Take A Chance Day

TWIT would like to wish everyone a very happy national Take A Chance Day today.

It's not too late - if there's something you've been wanting to do but have hesitated, today is the day to take a chance and do it.

TWIT will stand behind you 100%.

I'm Still Amaze

I've been ordering things online ever since I got a computer and internet access back in 1997.  But I am going to admit that I am still amazed at the ease of shopping and the quickness of delivery.

Yesterday morning, I ordered something from Amazon with free shipping (thank you Amazon Prime), and when we came home from church at about 12:30 today, the package was on our front porch.

And just now, I ordered a 2 ft by 4 ft folding table to take to the craft fairs.  It was free shipping and will be shipped to The Compound; I won't even have to drive to Wal-Mart to pick it up.

I know that all of the online shopping that I do takes away from the Mom and Pop store business, but I'm sorry.  I live a very, very busy life and I'm thankful for any convenience that I can get, even if I have to pay for it sometimes.

Update On The Girls

The Girls are growing and changing every day.  They are starting to get more feathers, and you can see a difference every day.  With their feathers, they aren't as friendly as they used to be, but me and The 'Rents still pick them up and talk to the, so they will continue to know our voices.  They calm down after a few seconds, and don't mind being held in our hand while we pet them.

They are also getting more active.  They are hopping over each other and their feeders and heat lamp, and have bursts of energy when they just run around their big tub.  They say this is a great sign.  I'm glad, because not a day has gone by that I haven't read one of our many chicken books to make sure we're doing everything right.

Today, I drove 30 miles to Radcliff to the Rural King just to buy them a 50 pound bag of feed.  I wrangled it from the shelf to the cart, then from the cart to the back of the Blazer, and then from the Blazer to a galvanized garbage can.  I think I got my exercise today.

But all in all, they are growing and thriving and doing great.

Stay tuned.

Flashback Friday

Back in the day (circa: 10-15 years ago) I would be as nerved up as could be on Thunder Eve.  Not tonight.  Ordinarily, I would have been stressing for 4 or 5 days prior, trying to figure out the weatherazzi's forecast.  And then planning on what everyone was supposed to bring to the all day and most of the night event.

I'm not ashamed to say that my Thunder days are over.  I've been three times, and that's enough for me.  And it appears to be enough for my SFs, too, since we sold our tickets to tomorrow's Bats' game again.

I've seen Thunder Over Louisville three times - each from a different vantage point.  Yes, it was cool.  It was undescribable to be able to feel the ground shake underneath your feet when the mega fireworks exploded.  But it was also undescribeable to have to endure the traffic to get out of the parking lot and then on the roads to get home.  Enough is enough.

Given the fact that the there is heavy rain in the forecast for tonight, tomorrow and part of Sunday, I'm glad I'll be high and dry here at The Compound.

Happy National Volunteer Day

TWIT and I would like to wish everyone that volunteers a very happy National Volunteer Day.

My hat goes off to anyone that volunteers for any type of charity or organization. You rock the utmost.  I wish more people would follow your lead.

Just today at work, a dear friend and coworker spent three hours in our lunchroom selling ducks for the Harbor House Ken-Ducky Derby.  My hat goes off to her.

If you don't already volunteer for any charity or organization, whether it's church, a ball league, women's or men's club, a medical-awareness charity, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, or any thing else, please consider giving some of your time.

What A Day

It was a particularly trying day at work.  I'm spent. My nerves are shot.  Speaking of shots, I'm ready for a shot or two of tequila to settle my nerves down.

Happy Birthday, Girls

TWIT would like to wish a very happy birthday to my six girls.  They are one week old. And have doubled in size since I brought them home from the post office last Tuesday.  They are little eating machines, and are getting their wings.  For that reason, we've had to put a piece of screen on the top of the giant tub to keep them from trying to fly/flop out.

Update on The Girls

Our six little girls are a week old today.  And they've doubled in size since I brought them home from the post office six days ago.  They are growing wings, and are testing them out. Of course they can't fly now, but they stretch out their wings and think they can.

They are all pretty much the same size, so we know they are all eating and growing well.  And they're still friendly - when we talk to them or put our hands down in their big tub, they all run over to where we are.

And they are eating machines.  Yesterday, I filled their feeder up twice.  And the 'Rents said they did the same today.  My Cousin said that they will be in the "teenager" stage now for the next couple of weeks, meaning they will be eating like crazy and growing a lot.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter from me and my Peeps, literally.

So Much For That

I'm bummed to say that Pap's Barn Art set up a booth at a craft fair at a high school out in the east end today, and didn't sell a thing.  I did have about a dozen people pick up a brochure, though. So maybe a seed was planted.

But like before, I'm not discouraged. I'm already planning for my next craft fair in two weeks.  I am going to tweak the layout of my booth, and most of all, will make sure I bring a seat cushion for my chair.

Flashback Friday

It's Good Friday, and the 'Rents and I just got back from the Good Friday service at church. The temperature was in the low 80's, so we had the a/c on in the van to and from church. On the way home, we all three were reminiscing about how just two or three years ago when we were going to the Good Friday service, we had to have the windshield wipers on because it was snowing hard.  That's just the crazy weather here in the Ohio Valley.

New Product Review

When I was getting gas this morning at our local Thorntons, I went inside to see if they had any good looking donuts in the case.  FYI, they didn't.  But I digress.  But I did see some bags of new Cheetos brand snacks called Sweetos.  I was intrigued.  As soon as I saw "cinnamon and sugar" on the front of the bag, I was hooked.  I bought a bag, even though they were overpriced.  And after one bite, I don't regret it.
I could have honestly eaten the whole bag at lunch today, but I used some restraint and only ate about one-third of the bag.  And I am going to venture a guess that anyone that tries them will do the same.

They are poofy, like Cheetos, but they are sweet and cinnamon sugar flavored.  They remind me a bit of the cinnamon sugar tortilla chips that Taco Bell used to sell back in the day.

Cheetos Sweetos most definitely gets not one but two Thumbs Up from TWIT, and without a doubt gets the TWIT Seal of Approval.

Update On The Girls

I'm happy to report that The Girls are doing great.  They look a bit bigger than they did yesterday, and we think that their little wings are more pronouced.  But I digress.  I still think they are without a doubt the cutest little animal I've ever seen.  Even cuter than Pancho and Pedro were when we brought them home to The Compound.

Let us have a few weeks to relish in their cuteness, because we know in about a month they will look all gangly with their new feathers, and won't be as cute as they are now.

Welcome To The Compound

TWIT would like to welcome The Girls to The Compound.  They were hatched yesterday morning, and shipped out to us yesterday afternoon, and arrived at our post office at lunchtime, and then made their way to their permanent home at The Compound.

For the next month or so, they will be living in a huge tub in the living room, and then when they are big enough they will go out to their way-cool coop that is almost finished. When I post pictures of it, you will have to agree that it's probably the coolest chicken coop you've ever seen.  But I digress.

Welcome home, girls!

Monday Updates

We are one step closer to announcing a new project going on at The Compound.  Hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest we will give the full details.  It's an exciting time right now.

Stay tuned.

Happy Sunday

It was a great, but busy Sunday, here at The Compound and abroad.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Diva Stay and I were unable to have our regularly scheduled Sunday afternoon visit for the past four weeks, but today, we made it happen. And it was a great afternoon.  We enjoyed just being together and doing nothing.

Happy National Caramel Corn Day

TWIT and I would like to wish everyone a very happy national Caramel Corn Day.

I celebrated by buying a bucket of caramel corn at the Bats game tonight.  And it was without a doubt the best caramel corn I think I've ever had.

It's not too late - you still have time to run up to the convenience store or to your grocery store and get a bag of caramel corn and celebrate. You'll be glad you did.

Happy National Don't Do Housework Day

TWIT would like to wish everyone a very happy Don't Do Housework Day.

I want to make sure you all know that I am doing my part, and will not be doing any type, shape, or form of housework today.

The Streak Is Broken

Thanks to the crazy weather here in the Ohio Valley, my 17 year streak of going to opening night at the Bats baseball games has come to an end.

It's cloudy, drizzling rain, cold, and we're under a wind advisory until after midnight.  Down on the waterfront at Slugger Field was no place for me to be tonight, with me just getting over The Plague that I had for two weeks.

I'm kinda sorry I missed opening night, but not sorry I'd be sitting there with my winter coat on enduring 30 mph winds and the cold.

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Thanks Again, Weatherazzi

Thank's again, weatherazzi.  You got everyone all worked up over "super cells" producing baseball sized hail and 60 mph winds today.  All we got at The Compound was about 2 minutes of a sprinkle.  And as far as I know, that was about all that most of the city of Louisville got.

It got up to 80 today.  After the front moves through, the expected high for tomorrow is 48 degrees.  A wonderful cold temperature for the season opener for the Bats baseball.  What evs.  I'll be there at Slugger Field tomorrow night in my long winter coat with my gloves and hat.  It's opening night.  I have to  keep my streak of going to Bats opening nights going.  Tomorrow night will be Opening Night # 18.

Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Thank You, Weatherazzi

It's Tuesday evening, and the Weatherazzi has already gotten us all worked up over severe storms, tornadoes, and large hail on Wednesday.  They're already talking "super cells", which gets us worked into an even bigger frenzy.

I'm over it all.

So Much For That

We just watched our beloved Reds lose their 2017 season opening game 4-2.  I'm not going to be the armchair quarterback and tell what I think they did wrong.  I'm just hoping for them to get their act together for the rest of the 140+ games this season.

Go Reds.

One More Day

Tomorrow is MLB Opening Day for our beloved Cincinnati Reds.  And for that, we at The Compound are thankful.

Time Out Update

I rested most of the day yesterday, with the exception of going to RiteAid and Krogers, and I was in bed by 10:00 last night.

Today started out well, but I had a relapse early afternoon, and put myself back in Time Out.

I've rested all afternoon, and as I type this, I feel pretty good, and am hoping for a good day tomorrow.
