Happy National Caramel Day

TWIT and I would like to wish everyone a very Happy National Caramel Day.

Americans began making sugary syrups in the 1600s, but the delicious chewy caramel that we know and love today emerged during the 18th century and quickly became one of the most popular sweets on the market.  In fact, our beloved Milton Hershey's first business was the Lancaster Caramel Company.

Caramel is simply made with butter, brown and white sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla.

Visit your work place vending machine and see if there are any Milky Ways or Rollos in there and get a pack.  And stop on your way home from work today and buy a jar of caramel topping for some ice cream after your supper.
