It doesn't seem like it, but ten years ago today, the remnants of Hurricane Ike hit Louisville. We were lucky at The Compound - we were only without power for maybe two hours; we barely had a few things connected to our generator when the power came back on. Others weren't as lucky. Power was out in our factory at work for over a week.
My most vivid memory of the wind storm was when the 'Rents, me, and a few other neighbors were in a neighbor's front yard watching the ground beneath a huge tree move as the wind was blowing. To this day it was one of the most bizarre and creepy things I've ever seen.
