Saturday, Saturday

We had a pretty good day at The Compound.  It was pretty cold today, so I didn't do much outside other than the required chicken chores and a trip to the grocery store.  But it's supposed to be 64 and sunny tomorrow.  So after church and lunch, I'm putting my work clothes on and will go out and pick up all of the crap leftover from last month's car crash in our front yard.  Wish  me luck.

Friday, Friday

The Weatherazzi has us all worked up tonight about "less than an inch" of snow.  I'm over it.  Either it snow a foot or just don't snow at all, and let's just get on to spring.

Thursday, Thursday

For the past few weeks, I've been fighting sinus issues.  It's lingered on, and now I think it's time to take action.  Tomorrow morning, I'm going to use our 24/7/365 free virtual doctor visit, and get some antibiotics to get rid of the annoying sinus infection that has gone on for way too long.

Home Run

As you know, until a few months ago, I didn't cook.  But I am learning.

Today, I achieved a home run.  Before I went to work, I cut up a roast and put it in the Crock Pot with a can of cream of mushroom soup and a packet of onion soup mix, and left it on low and slow all day.  Home run.  The Old Man said it was one of the most tender roasts he's ever eaten.  And I have to agree.

I know my Sweet Mother and Grandmother are both looking down from heaven tonight and smiling at me.  Because I can sure feel it.

Crazy In The Hood

It's been a crazy two days in my work hood.

Yesterday, there was a high speed police chase that ended across the road from Zoeller when the car the po-po's were chasing crashed into a tree.  Unfortunately, the driver died from the impact of the crash.

Then today on my way home, there was a shooting in front of Indi's Chicken.  Not sure if the victim made it or not, but they had Cane Run Road blocked off, and luckily I was able to cut across traffic and take a back way home.

I'm starting to wish I had a Jetson's flying car to fly above Cane Run Road and get to Zoeller.  I can only dream.

Monday, Monday

It was a cold, rainy Monday here in the 'Ville.  99% of the people I talked with at work, online, via text or email all were complaining about their sinuses.  And I'm right there with them.  All of this damned rain has got everybody's sinuses all in an uproar.  I'm hoping the rain will ease up for at least a week or two to let us get our sinuses back in check.

Catching Up

I apologize, faithful readers, for forgetting to post the past two days.  I just got busy and tired and simply forgot.

There's not much new to report, other than we were so happy to see sunshine yesterday and again today.  And even happier that it isn't raining.  This is one of the few Saturdays this year that it isn't raining.  Never fear, though - rain is forecasted for tomorrow night.  And the weatherazzi has already started in on "an alert day Wednesday" - rain is supposed to turn to snow.  But when they forecast a dusting of snow at this time of the year, it could quickly morph into a few inches.  Stay tuned.

Good Wednesday

It's been a good Wednesday.  And that makes for a good week so far.

I'm very happy to report that the Old Man has been riding the recumbent bike every other day for the past month, for a half hour at a time.  And he hasn't had any issues from the exercise.  If anything, I think it's what's been helping him get around without the walker.  And for that, I am very thankful.

I had 4 errands to run after work today, and got them all done without drama.  I came home, had supper, and did my chicken farmer chores, and now I'm ready to crash for the night.  I deserve it.

Good Tuesday

It's been a good Tuesday at work and at The Compound. And I'm hoping for a good Tuesday night.

We're getting ready to head downtown to church for the Kentucky Baptist Convention's Men's Chorale concert that is happening at our church.  I'll be helping with security, and The Old Man said he wanted to go.  Prayers answered.  We're looking forward to hearing some great music tonight, and I'm looking forward to the Old Man being with his church friends.  Nuff said.

Good Monday

It was a good Monday at work.  My work load was very light, thank goodness, and I had only a few calls with questions.  I was able to coast through the Monday without any big problems.  And here I am at The Compound tonight, coasting through the evening without any big problems as well.  I just switched over a load of laundry, and if I am able to catch it in time to not have may wrinkles in my shirts and pants, it will be an awesome Monday.

Stay tuned.

A Woman's Work Is Never Done

I've done more work today in the house than I am ashamed to say that I've ever done.  I was down on my knees scrubbing the bathroom floor; I scrubbed the bathroom counter top; I moved the rug, table and couch in the family room to clean underneath the couch; I took the vent off of the wall and cleaned it and thankfully put it back.  And I did all of the weekly chicken chores.  And tonight, I'm doing nothing.

Happy Valentimes Day

TWIT and I would like to wish you, faithful readers, a very happy Valentimes Day.  Yes, I know I spelled that wrong, but I truly LOL when I hear people say "Valentimes" instead of "Valentines."  But I digress.  I hope your day is filled with lots of love.  It's not about getting/giving flowers or candy or champagne and dinners at fancy restaurants; it's about love.  I challenge you to tell at least one person today that you love them.

Right?

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I am tired of hearing the response "Right?" whenever you ask a question.

Rain Rain, Go Away

Once again for the umpteenth time, we are in the middle of a monsoon here in the Ohio Valley.  The weatherazzi is calling for 2-3 inches of rain by tomorrow.  I sure believe it. The Old Man and I practically had to swim home from getting our hair cuts tonight.

Thank You, Scarlet

TWIT and I would like to thank my friend Scarlet for the sweet, heart-felt words she wrote in a card that she mailed to me.  She doesn't follow TWIT, but I want to thank her publicly anyway.  Her words were just what I needed to hear today.

Scarlet is without a doubt the best pianist that I have heard in my 57 years.  We love listening to her play every Sunday morning at church, as well as we love to watch her play.  You can just see the joy on her face with every note she plays.

You rock, Scarlet.  You rock.

Public Service Announcement

I read something interesting today that needs to be shared with you, faithful readers.  Actually, it needs to be shared with the entire United States, but I’ll do my part and share with my faithful readers.

On Valentines Day, you can get a free Whopper from the fine folks at Burger King.  All you need to do is give them a picture of your ex.  They didn’t specify on whether it had to be the most current ex, or an ex from back in the day; all they said was a picture of your ex. Yes, it’s that simple.  So go ahead – dig out that old photo of your ex from the box underneath your bed that’s full of forgotten memories, and head over to Burger King on Valentine’s Day to redeem what’s rightfully yours: a juicy Whopper.

A Great Sunday

The Old Man and I had a great Sunday.  We had a great morning at church, getting and giving lots of hugs to/from our church family.  We had a good lunch, and had a great afternoon napping a little and watching TV and just being together.  To top it off, we had some good ice cream for a treat.  You can't get much better than that.  I think my Sweet Mother would have approved.

More Snow, Kinda

The weatherazzi had everyone worked up again last night over us getting "up to an inch" of snow.  At The Compound, we barely got a dusting.  But it was pretty cold and windy here all day.

Anyone that knows me knows winter is my favorite season because I like the cold.  But I'm here to tell you this winter, I'm liking the cold a bit less.  I ran up to the corner to pick us up some fried rice, and I only wore my denim jacket and I froze and was shivering during the short drive up there and back, even with the heater going.  I should have worn my big coat.  Lesson learned.

Snow

Here at The Compound, we had our first measurable snow of the season this morning.  We had one inch.  It was all gone when I got home, except for the snow on the back porch ramp, which was quickly gone after I scooped it off.

The weatherazzi is calling for another inch tonight.  We don't care.  I'll scoop the ramp off if it snows, and that's all that matters.

I Apologize

I sincerely apologize for not posting this week.  I thought I had posted, but evidently I hadn't.

It hasn't been an overly busy week that would make me forget; I just got preoccupied at home and forgot to post.

To update you, the Old Man had a follow-up visit at the Heart Failure Center on Tuesday.  He got a good report, and his doctor said the kidney function is better.  She said for him to come back in three months, but he was able to talk her into an extra month.

Tonight our good friends Dot and Chico from church took us out to dinner.  We had an awesome time talking and laughing with them.  It was just what we needed.

And as I type this, the weatherazzi is getting everyone here in the 'Ville worked up over a possible 1-2 inches of snow tonight.  I'm a horrible housekeeper, because we don't have any milk on a snow eve.  We do have plenty of bread, however.  I guess we'll manage.

Happy Super Sunday

With the NFL being strict about people using the phrase "Super Bowl", I have to be careful.  So TWIT and I would like to wish you, faithful readers, a happy Super Sunday.

It's been a Super Sunday so far here at The Compound.  The Old Man went to church with just his cane today, and that's a big thank-you-Lord.  We had a good lunch, and now we are going to just be couch potatoes and watch TV the rest of the day, just because we can.  And best of all, it's 83 and sunny as I type this.

Broken Record

For the past six Saturdays, we've had rain here in the 'Ville.  Heavy rain, at that.  Today, we've had no rain.  And no rain is in today's forecast.  For that, we are thankful.
