Tuesday That Seemed Like Monday

Today seemed like Monday.  I was busier than the proverbial one-armed paper hanger today getting caught up from being off yesterday.  But the day went by fast, and that was a plus.

Update On The Old Man

I am so excited that I am having a hard time typing this post.  We just got back from the Old Man's check-up at the heart failure center and he got great news.  His kidney numbers have stabilized, and for that we thank the Lord.  And his other numbers from the blood work are also great.  Best of all, the doctor said he has "graduated" from the center - he will come back in a year,  as opposed to the every-three-months and then every-six-months like he's done for the past few years!

But wait - the good news doesn't end there.  We were getting out of the van and heading into the house when he asked me "Where do you want to go for lunch?"  I'm sure I let out a small gasp.  This is coming from the man who for the past year, has only been to the doctor and to get haircuts.  This is a huge step, believe me.  I think getting his second vaccine yesterday combined with the good news from the doctor has given him more confidence.

Stay tuned.

The Plunge Update

The Old Man got his second Covid vaccine this afternoon, and he's happy and anticipating the day when he will feel safe enough to visit his favorite Mexican restaurant and eat and get a Margarita.

Stay tuned.

I Took The Plunge Again

Yesterday morning, I got my second Covid vaccine.  The line was longer than when I got my first shot, but it moved pretty quick. So far, so good.  I will say that my arm is considerably more sore than when I got the first shot but I had no trouble sleeping on that side last night.

Tomorrow afternoon, I take the Old Man to get his second shot.  I'm praying he (and I) both have as easy of a time with the second shot like we did with the first.

Stay tuned.

Welcome Spring

In typical fashion, the weatherazzi had everyone on edge yesterday with forecasted storms, heavy winds and rain and possible tornadoes.  Thank the Lord all we got yesterday was some rain during the morning.  Unfortunately, those down south didn't fare so well. But it is the storm season.

Stay tuned.

Happy Hair Cut Day

The Old Man and I got our hair cut this evening, and it sure made us happy.  We are looking good, and feeling cooler with a lot of hair gone.  Thanks again, DP.  You rock.

Distribution Week Has Ended

I didn't get any rebates, stimulus checks, or income tax refunds today.  And we didn't have any winning lottery tickets, either.  So I guess Distribution Week has come to an end.  But it sure as hell was fun while it lasted!

Distribution Week Continues

It's still raining money here at The Compound.  Today I got a rebate check for $5.  As my good friend at work AK would say, that's five McChickens.

Distribution Week Continues

It's still raining money on me - I got my state income tax refund yesterday!  Keep on raining money on me!!!

Distribution Week

I would like to wish myself a very happy Distribution Week.  It was the Triple Crown for me:  first of all, on Monday I got my $1400 stimulus check deposited.  Two days later we got our bonus at work.  Then yesterday was the regularly scheduled Distribution Day.

It will be a long, long time for another multi-Distribution Day, but I am sure thankful for what I got this week.

Thursday, Thursday

It was a crazy busy day at work today.  It seemed like the normal work day was three days long.  I sure was glad to get out of there at 4:30.  Now I can hardly wait to get in tomorrow morning and do it all again.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Top o' the mornin' to you, ladds and lasses! Here's one of my all-time fave jokes, that just happens to be an Irish joke.

Paddy O'Bryan was not home at his usual hour, and his wife Kathleen was fuming, as the clock ticked later and later. Finally, about 3:00 AM she heard a noise at the front door, and as she stood at the top of the stairs, there was her husband, drunk as a skunk, trying to navigate the stairs.
"Do you realize what time it is?" she said.
He answered, "Don't get excited, I'm late because I bought something for the house."
Immediately her attitude changed, and as she ran down the stairs to help him, she said, "What did you buy for the house, dear?"
His answered, "A round of drinks!

Thank You, Uncle Sam

Disclaimer: the comments you are about to hear are strictly bipartisan.

I would like to publicly thank the government for the latest (and actually all) of the stimulus checks they've given me in the past year.  I was pleasantly surprised yesterday morning when I checked my checking account and saw that $1400 had just been deposited.

Thanks again.

Updates From The Compound

All in all, yesterday was a pretty darned good day.

After cleaning the kitchen, dining room and family room in preparation for visiting kinfolk, I went out and de-winterized the Girls' coop.  Believe me when I tell you I was glad to take out their heated waterer and put back their huge family-sized waterer.  The heated waterer is just a pain in the ass to fill; you have to quickly turn it upside down and twist off the base, fill it up with water, and try (key word) to get the base back on.  If it's not on just right, when you flip the waterer back over the base will come off and your legs and feet get drenched. Fortunately their big waterer is a bizillion times easier - just unscrew the top cap off and fill it up and you're good to go.

Then our kinfolk arrived, bringing with them awesome Mike Linnig's fish, pan fried oysters and the best onion rings ever.  We had a great time just sitting around the kitchen table talking, laughing and reminiscing.  The Old Man even told them that after we get our second vaccines and when it warms up, he wanted to come down and visit them.

But the day was not without issues.  Once again I was awaken at 3:00 this morning with the damned sciatica pain in my backside.  Correction - it was actually 4:00 with the time change. But I digress.  I took some of the arthritis strength Tylenol, and within 20 minutes I was able to get back to sleep.  But I think a nap will be in order some time today.

Stay tuned.

Sciatica Continues

Unfortunately I've developed a bad habit: being wide awake at 3:00 in the morning with annoying sciatica pain.  The pain isn't nowhere near as bad as what the Old Man dealt with a few years ago, but it's still annoying none the less.

I was proactive last night and took the awesome arthritis strength Tylenol as I went to bed, and luckily there was no pain at 3:00 this morning.

Stay tuned.

Update From The Compound

The Old Man and I have done great after our first dose of the Covid vaccine, I am very happy to report.

On a less positive note, I've been dealing with sciatica in my right leg for the past few days, and haven't slept worth a damn the past few nights.  I'm getting ready to get on the couch with the heating pad, and am hoping for a better night's sleep tonight.

Stay tuned.

Covid Vaccine Update

The Old Man had his first shot of the Pfizer vaccine yesterday, and he said he feels great! He said he didn't feel the shot, and has had no soreness or any other after effects.  For that, I am truly thankful to the Lord.

Covid Vaccine Update

I had a teeny bit of pain in my arm last night while I turned over to my left side, but it wasn't enough pain to make me get up and take Tylenol.   I feel great today!  And I have got The Old Man prayed up that he will have as easy of a time with his first vaccine tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

I Took The Plunge

I am happy to report that this morning I got my first dose of the Pfiezer Covid vaccine.  It was easier than imagined.  And the actual sticking of the needle was way less painful than my annual flu shot.

I go back on March 26 for my second dose.

I am feeling great tonight, and feel safer.

Stay tuned.

Thank You

I always dread this part of the week -- the time I have to haul water out to fill up the Girls' heated waterer.  Luckily tonight, I was able to fill it and get the waterer back together in one try.  You can't imagine how that makes me feel.

Taking The Plunge

After a week of checking hourly at half a dozen sites, this afternoon I was finally able to get an appointment to get the Covid vaccine.  I go Friday morning.  I can't tell you how I feel right now - for a bizarre reason, I feel safer, and I haven't even gotten the vaccine yet.

The Old Man has his vaccine Sunday afternoon, and he's as anxious as I am.  He really wants to get it.

I'm hoping and praying that neither one of us have a reaction or after effects.  But if we do, we will deal with them.

Stay tuned.

Tuesday, Tuesday

Today was one of the most jacked up days at work in a while.  When I walked into the office I was greeted by a power outage in half of our department; my half.

After waiting for info from the powers to be for an hour, I finally took my laptop and essential paperwork and headed to an empty conference room to get down to bidness.

At lunchtime, power had been restored so I got settled in.  Within an hour, my head felt like a ripe melon that was about to split open.  And the rest of the afternoon was the same.

But I'm home now, and my headache is gone.  Imagine that.

Monday, Monday

We had a monsoon yesterday, with lots of flooding in the area.  Thank goodness the rain stopped last night.  Today has been sunny, windy (which will help dry up the rain) and a bit cool.  But thank the Lord that the rain stopped.  That's about all I got for today.

Stay tuned - I have some news from The Compound to share.
