Back To Reality

My week at home is drawing to a close, and that means it's time for re-entry tomorrow morning. I'm already dreading it after getting some emails and texts about problems that I will have to deal with, but they will get taken care of; they always do.

I'm not ashamed to say that I did not accomplish three big tasks I'd planned to do this week.  They can wait, and will get accomplished this week or the next.  I was just happy to just spend time being with my family.  That's what it's all about.

More News From The Compound

Today is the fourth day in the past week that we've seen humongous wild turkeys out in the back field. I wasn't able to get to my phone or camera in time yesterday to get a picture, but I'm hoping they'll be up close like they were yesterday so I can get photographic proof.

Stay tuned.

News From The Compound

I am very happy to report that after a very long dry spell, we got one egg from one of The Girls today.  The last time we got an egg was on Halloween.  I have no way to know which one of the four gave us the egg, but I thanked each of them tonight.

Stay tuned.

Happy Birthday To The Old Man

TWIT and I would like to wish a very happy birthday to The Old Man, aka My Dad.  58 years ago he got the best birthday present ever:  me!

On a related note, the streak continues.  We got about two inches of snow yesterday evening on my birthday.  I can research and give you exact statistics, but suffice to say there has been snow on the ground or else it has been snowing on my birthday for about 55 years total.

Happy Birthday To Me

Nothing makes you feel old on your birthday when you check email and there is a notification from AARP about your benefits.

Happy Birthday to me.

A Great Birtnday Eve

The Old Man and I have had a great birthday eve.

The morning started out great for him.  I fixed him his favorite SOS for breakfast.

Then we headed out to the salon and both got haircuts.  We looked good.

After an afternoon nap, we had pizza from our favorite Bonnie and Clyde's.

Tonight, we capped the night off with evening cocktails, and are getting ready for a long winter's nap.

Thank You, Well Dawg

I would like to thank my dear friend and coworker, Well Dawg, for giving me his recipe for chili.

A couple of weeks ago, he texted me and told me to not bring lunch the next day because he was bringing me some of his famous chili.  And it was awesome.  He brought me a big bowl, and I used restraint and rationed it out to two lunches.

So being at home today, with the monsoon going on, I thought it was the perfect day to make his chili.  I put it all in the Crock Pot at about 10:00, and just now took a couple of spoon fulls to taste.  Believe me when I tell you I could have scooped it out of the Crock Pot and continued eating it.  His recipe is the best.

Thanks again, Well Dawg.  When this virus mess is over and we feel comfortable going out, you have a nice Mexican dinner, complete with tequila, coming to you.

Let The Partying Begin

This is birthday week, and in keeping with my tradition, I am taking the week off from work.  The partying has already started, and we will continue all week long; maybe longer.  Just because we can.

Stay tuned.

The Frenzy Is Over

Someone won the ginormous Mega Millions jackpot last night, and someone also won the ginormous Powerball jackpot on Wednesday.  So the frenzy is over.  At least till the jackpots get ginormous again.

Stay tuned.

Mega Millions Update

The Old Man and I have our tickets tonight for the Mega Millions drawing. It's over one billion dollars.  All I can say is stay tuned.

Thank You, Lady Gaga

TWIT and I would like to thank Lady Gaga for singing one of the best versions of the National Anthem today at the inauguration that I have ever heard.  Her version was even better than my beloved Ann Wilson's version at a Seahawk's playoff game a few years ago.  Lady Gaga freaking brought it today.  Regardless of your political party affiliation, I think you will agree with me.

Air Fryer Tip Tuesday

Yesterday, I was adventurous and fixed a pork loin in the air fryer.  And it was awesome.  The Old Man said it was the best meat that I've ever fixed for him.  And I have to agree.

It was a pound and a half pork loin.  I put a thin layer of mayo on it, and then salt and pepper, and put it in the air fryer at 360 degrees for 45 minutes.

It was one of the juiciest pieces of meat I've ever had.  Even if I am biased. The Old Man said that he wants me to fix another one the next time my cousin and her husband come to visit.  I am happy to oblige.

Stay tuned for more air fryer tips.

What A Great Day Off

My only plan today was to sleep in.  I had planned and told the Old Man I wanted to sleep in till 9:00.  he said that he would do the same.  But that didn't happen.

At 8:01, my cell phone was ringing with a call from a co-worker.  He "forgot" that we had the day off and was at work, only to be the only person there.

Nuff said.

Powerball Update

At least our Powerball group at work will get to cash in one ticket - a whopping $4.  But that will buy us two more tickets, and you only need one ticket to win.  As of this morning, Wednesday's Powerball will be $730 million.  And on a related note, Tuesday's Mega Millions will be $850 million.

Stay tuned.

Mega Millions Update

Out of the ten games we had for Mega Millions, we didn't have a single number.  Not many others did, either, because nobody won and on Tuesday night, the drawing will be over $850 million.  We will try again.

Stay tuned.

Mega Millions Update

Tonight's drawing of Mega Millions will be over 3/4 of a billion dollars.  The Old Man and I have our tickets and we will be waiting at 10:59 for the drawing.

Stay tuned.

Powerball Update

I am happy to report that our Powerball group at work won a whopping $8 last night.  That's enough to get us 4 more tickets for Saturday night's 3/4 of a billion dollars drawing.  All it takes is one ticket.

Stay tuned.

Trying To Do Better

For the past couple of days, I've been mad at the world.  The reason nothing really specific - just one of those things.  But today I am trying to do better, and am going to try to be happier and not as mad at everybody.  Wish me luck.

Winter, Winter Continues

I was an NFL slug yesterday, and me and the Old Man watched all three of the NFL wild card games.  I was too busy watching/napping/snacking to drag my dead ass from the couch to post on TWIT.  I apologize.  I am trying to do better in 2021.

Winter, Winter

It's been a very relaxing day here at The Compound.  I did the home and chicken chores this morning, and then went to the grocery store, and since then the Old Man and I have ben watching the NFL wild card playoff games.  We're gearing up for one of our favorite suppers tonight - hot dogs in the air fryer.  And we're also gearing up for tonight's Powerball drawing.

Stay tuned.

Thanks, Weatherazzi

The weatherazzi had us all worked up last night over a possible "accumulating" snow.  Here at The Compound this morning, we had maybe a half an inch.  And all morning long there were tons of posts on Facebook from people taking pictures of the half inch of snow at their house.  Was that really necessary? Thanks, weatherazzi.

Taco Salad Thursday

We postponed our regularly scheduled supper tonight for taco salads from Wendy's.  They are one of our favorites.  And they were awesome tonight.  I didn't hesitate to go online and do the customer service survey on the back of the receipt.  Keep up the good work, Wendy's.  And your chili rocks.

There Are No Words

There are no words tonight to describe how I feel after seeing what happened this afternoon at our nation's Capitol.  All I can say is God bless America.

New Year Update

I told myself I would post every day this year.  So much for that New Year's Resolution.

The Old Man and I are still getting over the stomach bug that we had this weekend.  And we are hoping it will stay away for a long, long time.

Happy New Year To Us

Me and The Old Man were out of commission for most of the day and night yesterday.  We both had a touch of a stomach bug, and didn't much except run to the bathroom or doze.  Thanks to prayers, he is feeling much better today, and he even had me fix some oatmeal for breakfast.  So far, so good.  '

Stay tuned.

And an update about the $19.99 ice maker:  I got an email last night from the company, asking me to take a picture of the cheap watch that I received and email it to them, and they also said they would take care of my order and "try" (key word) to get me the ice maker.

You Pay Your Money And You Take Your Chances

Two months ago, I saw an ad on Facebook for an ice maker that makes the awesome pellet ice. It was only $19.99, so I thought what the hell - I'll take a chance.

Early this morning, I got a text from the USPS where I'd been tracking the shipment saying it had been delivered.  Immediately my heart sank; I knew the ice maker was too big for our mailbox.  There in my mailbox was a small package - maybe 3 inches square.  I opened it to find a cheap watch. It was cheaper than what you would find in the gum ball machines.  Either the freight warehouse in Los Angeles where the shipment arrived sent me the wrong item or the company I bought it from screwed up.  Anyhoo, at this point I'm pretty sure I'll never see the $19.99 pellet ice maker. But just in case, I emailed the company and told them about the mix up. And I'm pretty sure I'll never hear from them, either.

Stay tuned.

Welcome, 2021

TWIT and I would like to welcome 2021.

I'm not going to say that 2021 can't be much worse than 2020, because we know it very well could.  I will say that we hope and pray that 2021 is better, much better than 2020.
