Covid 19 Update

Even though the county school system has said masks are required when Jefferson County schools open back up in a couple of weeks, there were definitely less masks worn at the grocery store yesterday than they were last Saturday.

I am the first to say that masks are uncomfortable, especially in the summer, but I totally believe wearing my mask over the past two plus years has a lot to do with me and the Old Man not having Covid.

Stay safe.

Happy Retirement Day

It's hard to believe that this morning will be the last time I make the early morning drive to the office.

Stay tuned for updates throughout the day.

Update:

Today is the day: in a little over an hour, I will clock out of the office for the last time. I've gotten presents today, had my breakfast and lunch bought for me, and best of all, I've gotten lots of hugs and such kind words from my work family. I made sure I had a full box of Kleenax when I came in this morning, because I've sure needed them. After 34 years here, I've more than paid my dues. Now it's time to relax. And it's ironic that yesterday morning when I pulled into the parking lot here, "Take This Job And Shove It" was on SiriusXM. LOL

Happy Retirement Week Continues

Happy retirement week continues.  Presents are starting to happily roll in, and I am enjoying every minute of my friends helping me celebrate.

The Old Man and I kept the celebration going with a trip to our favorite Mexican place tonight.  And when we got home, we kept the celebrating going with a shot of tequila.

Stay tuned.,

Happy Life Day

Happy Life Day to me! It's hard to believe that it is my Life Day again - the year has flown by. For those that don't know about it, today is my Life Day - on this day in 1992, I was almost killed in a car wreck. But the Lord had other plans for me. So on this day every year, I celebrate my Life Day. First, I want to give big thanks to some dear life-long friends who helped me through the ordeal - PD, CB, KD, and MP. I remember how sweet Weezy brought me her Pig Licking Cake and nacho casserole faithfuly while I was off from work. Second, I try to do something different/new each Life Day and this year is no exception: Life Day happens to fall this year on my retirement week!

Happy Retirement Week

TWIT and I would like to wish me a very happy retirement week.  Only four more sleeps then I will be retired.

The day was awesome - Super Bob bought me an Ollie's Trolley burger and fries, and my favorite Grandmother (who I've worked with since day one) made me her famous hash brown casserole.  I think the Old Man and I can eat off it for a month or two.  I know I cannot wait to have some for breakfast tomorrow.

Tonight, I'm going to chill with the Old Man and think about Friday at 4:30.

Stay tuned.

Happy National Tequila Day

TWIT and I would like to wish you, faithful readers, a very Happy National Tequila Day.  I know the Old Man and I will be celebrating it later.

If you don't happen to have any tequila in your house today, you have plenty of time to go out and get a bottle and celebrate with us.

Covid 19 Update

Masks were way more visible today at the grocery store.  I didn't need to go, but a faithful reader went and reported that she saw 50% of the shoppers at her Kroger being masked up.

Party On

It's been a busy week full of partying, faithful readers.

Wednesday after work, some of my friends in the office had a surprise party for me at my favorite Mexican place.  Needless to say, almost everyone there wanted to buy me a shot of tequila, but I stopped at three.  I was very touched because half of the group there had a long way to go to get back home - and they made the trip out to my hood to celebrate my retirement.

Then yesterday, my department and Purchasing had another party for me.  The pizza and cake was great, and on top of that they had my cubicle decorated when I came in.  I love my work family, and honestly will miss them.

Tonight, I'm resting from the partying and am gearing up emotionally for my last week in the office.

Stay tuned.

Happy National Ice Cream Day

TWIT and I would like to wish you, faithful readers, a very happy National Ice Cream Day.  I urge you to celebrate today by having some ice cream.  I know for sure the Old Man and I will be having some tonight.  Once again, we will have a bowl of Blue Bell Peachy Peach ice cream.

Enjoy.

Covid 19 Update

Om my weekly trip to the grocery store today, I noticed more masks being worn than in previous weeks.  I'm not ashamed to say I was masked up.  Before my trip to the store, I had a meeting at church, and out of the 9 women at the meeting, 3 of us were masked up.

Stay safe.

Public Service Announcement

 Dear Subway:

We love your sandwiches but we don't love your deals. Every week, you send us coupons in the mail, but yet none of the Subway stores within a ten mile radius of The Compound or work accept the coupons.

Why don't you just decrease the price of your sandwiches since the stores won't accept coupons?

Apologies Again

Once again, I apologize for not posting.  I have a little over two weeks until I retire, and I am a bit preoccupied.  Thank you, faithful readers, for hanging in there.

Rainy Days And Saturdays

We had a steady light rain for most of the day today, and I was not mad about that.  I just put on my trusty red rain coat to go to the grocery, and when I got back home I sat my ass down on the couch and enjoyed watching the Calgary Stampede rodeo and then the Reds game.  I am practicing for my retirement.  I don't think I'll need much more practice to get it down.

Flashback Friday

Way back in the day (late 60s), my Grandma's niece played Queene Bee at the Burger Queen stores.  I am happy to still have a plate commemorating it.

Wednesday Updates

I apologize, faithful readers, for not posting the past few days.  Once again, I've been distracted. Nothing bad is happening; I've just been distracted.   But in three and a half weeks, a lot of that distraction will be behind me.  But I digress.

Once again, we are in the middle of another big heatwave.  It got to 99 yesterday, and is supposed to get to 99 again today, with the heat index of about 115.  I took a day off today to take care of a little bidness, and other taking some books back to the library, I'm staying in the nice comfortable a/c.

You Know I Don't Cook Update

I decided that this morning I would try (key word) to make my Sweet Mother's thin pancakes.  I'm not ashamed to say that they turned out horrid.  But thanks to advice from Diva Stacy and my Favorite Cousin, I know what I did wrong and am going to try again next Sunday morning.

Stay tuned.

File Under: WTF?

I made my usual Saturday trip to the grocery store today, and let me tell you it was five times as worse as it is on a winter night before snow is in the forecast.  And it wasn't just me; I talked to two other friends this afternoon who said the same thing about their trips to the grocery store.

Kids were running around and running into people, with their parents yelling at them while talking on their cell phones.  At least the store shelves were fully stocked.

I'm just glad that it's over until next Saturday

This Month . . .

Today, I am able to say this month, I am going to retire.

Only four more Friday mornings to have to answer to the alarm clock.
