Farewell, Kitty Wells
RIP, Kitty Wells. You were the true pioneer for women in all genres of music. You not only paved the way for all female singers and musicians, but you started the pathway for them to follow. I can't begin to thank you for not only your contribution to country music but also to the countless women (and men) that you inspired over the years. And I don't mean just country music, either. If it hadn't been for you, there would not be a Reba McEntire, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Ann and Nandy Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, and even Madonna and Lady Gaga, and many, many other women.
