Overheard as I was walking out of Florence Mall in Florence, KY this afternoon (note - Florence is a few miles before Cincinnati; still part of the Ohio Valley). Let me set this up - a woman that appeared to be a few years younger than me, was coming out of the mall at the same time as I was, and she had bought a new suitcase on wheels and was wheeling it out. She was talking to someone on her cell phone. And I quote:
"Kentucky sure ain't nothing like San Francisco. It's damn hot."
I wanted to tell her "Honey, if you think today or this week in northern Kentucky is hot when the high it got to this week was upper 70's, and a few days were even in the 60's, you would not last a day here in July or August."

Overheard At The Store
I was running errands this morning, and was at our local shopping center getting ready to enter into one of our favorite stores, "Everything's A Deal". In front of the store, a local church was having a huge bake sale to raise money for a mission trip for their youth group. Let me state right now that there were signs everywhere, and there were also baked goods of all sorts filling up three tables.
A woman walked up to the bake sale, and after about thirty seconds of looking at the tables full of baked goods, said "What are y'all selling?"
Hand to heaven.

Overheard At The Store
A woman a little older than I am was parked next to me at the store parking lot. She had three grandchildren with her, two walking and one in a baby carrier. As she was getting the baby into the car seat, the other kids apparently thought she was taking a bit too long and they started crying. I witnessed this ordeal because she had the door to her car still open as she was getting the baby settled and I had to wait till she was finished and close her door before I could open my door. Anyhoo, the grandmother was just over it all. One of the crying kids said "I want a drink." Grandma quickly replied "So does Nana."

Overheard At The Store
Let me preface by saying this was overheard as I was walking through the shopping center headed to the library. It was spoken by a young mother to her young daughter as they were walking out of the library, obviously very disgruntled. And I quote:
"It used to be the Louisville free public liberry."
