Cyber Monday Report

 The extent of my Cyber Monday online shopping consisted of buying a pair of waterproof winter gloves to use when I have to refill Large Marge's waterer this winter.  I think I got off pretty cheap.

Ohio Valley Weather Update

 We had a high wind warning yesterday, and boy, the weatherazzi wasn't lying.  I heard from some friends that had their holiday inflatables blown away.  Luckily for us, the remaining leaves in our yard were blown away and ended up in someone else's yard.  For that, we are thankful. 

Covid 19 Update

 During my regularly scheduled trip to Krogers this weekend, I noticed that mask usage was up considerably from the previous few weeks.  I've still been wearing my mask, even though I am in the minority.  But better to be safe than sorry.

Black Friday Shopping Update

 My Black Friday shopping consisted of a trip to the grocery store.  That was all she wrote.  There was not one thing in any of the stores that were opened at 5:00 this morning that I wanted or needed.  Moving on., 

Happy Thanksgiving Day

 TWIT and I would like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving Day.  

It's been pretty low key here at The Compound.  We've watched TV and ate a great meal and have napped.  You can't ask for much more than that. 

We are both thankful for everything that we have.  I am especially thankful for ZCO and their generous retirement fund that they have given to me.  I am so thankful I am able to use it to take care of the house and to provide for whatever the Old Man and I want or need.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve

 TWIT and I would like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving Eve.  

I have a lot of errands to run today, and as soon as I post this I am going to hit the ground running and knock all of them out before the masses hit the grocery stores for their last-minute Thanksgiving dinner shopping.  All I need from the grocery is either a sweet potato pie or pumpkin pie, so I'm hoping I can get in and out of there quickly.

Ohio Valley Weather Update

 After the cold spell we've had, we enjoyed a sunny day today with a high of 60 degrees.  The same is forecasted for Thanksgiving Eve.   For this weather, we are thankful.

Dream On

Last night was the second recurring dream that I've had in the past five nights: either my cell phone was in my backpack that was stolen or I left it at home and didn't have it in my purse.  I'm not sure what this means; it probably means I'm on my phone checking for texts, emails, playing games, etc.   I am going to make a conscious effort to not be on the cell phone as much as I have been.

Saturday Updates

 Santa's Elves have been busy the past two days working on making reindeer ornaments made out of wine bottle corks.  We currently have 12 in production.  And let me say that we did not drink all of the wine needed to make these;  it takes 4 corks to make one reindeer.  And the wine we drink has a screw top, not a cork.  Just saying.  

It's a tedious process - especially making sure that I don't burn my fingers with the glue gun.

The Hits Keep Coming

 It has been a very expensive November for us here at The Compound.   First, we had to get a new hot water heater.  Then the next day, I got the property tax bill.  And just now, we bought two new La-Z Boy recliners for the family room.  

Last night when the Old Man got up to go to the bathroom, the foot rest on his recliner wouldn't go back up.  We got it back in place after kicking it.  This a.m. it did the same thing.  So we decided to bite the bullet and get new ones.  The other recliner has the same issue;  for the past two years I've used a little foot stool to prop my feet up on, and prayed each time I got up from the chair that my clumsy ass wouldn't trip over the stool. 

Normally it would take about three months for a LaZ Boy recliner, since they are all made-to-order, but the very nice saleswoman checked and found the one we picked out in a darker leather that was currently in production, and should be delivered mid-December.

We're just thankful that first of all, we have the money to spend on new furniture, and second, that the old ones lasted as long as they did.

Shingles Update

 I know this is a broken record - but I'm still itching a bit, and the meds make me sleepy so I have been taking a nap every afternoon.  But I'm retired and that's fine with me.  

Why $19?

 In between all of the Medicare enrollment and injury lawyer commercials, we are also bombarded with commercials asking for donations for various charities.  I saw an interesting trend with the charities: they all ask you to donate $19 a month.  Why $19? Why not an even twenty bucks?  I'm going to guess it's psychological - $19 is less than $20 and I'm assuming that $1 makes a difference.  

Ohio Valley Weather Update

 Two days ago the high was 78 degrees.  Yesterday, I went to the drugstore in shorts and a t-shirt.  This morning we woke to an inch of snow and 33 degrees.

Happy Veterans Day

 TWIT and I would like to wish a very happy Veterans Day to all of the veterans - especially to my favorite veteran, the Old Man. 

He proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska.  Though he didn't actually fight in combat, thank the Lord, at that time Alaska was not yet a state and they were very close to Russia.  

To all of the veterans, thank you for your service. 

Shingles Update

 Tomorrow morning I will pick up a new prescription for my shingles, as well as another prescription for the itching.  The past two days have been horrible with the itching.  But as I keep saying, I am thankful that the vaccine has worked to not allow me to have the horrible pain and blisters. 

To hopefully be able to get some itching relief and sleep, I will be taking a couple of Benadryl shortly.

Ohio Valley Weather Update

 The high today was 78 degrees.  Yes, almost 80 degrees on November 9.  It was sunny, too - just like a summer day.  It's not going to last, however.  The high for Saturday is supposed to be 40 degrees.

Election Update

 It's still too early to get the final results from today's election, but I did my part.  I drove some friends to the polls today to vote.  Like I said, I did my part.  The rest is up to everyone that voted. 

Shingles Update

 Saturday and Sunday were pretty miserable for me.  I had lots of itching.  After supper last night, I finally got some relief and was able to sleep pretty well last night.  The rashes of the tiny bumps are in a few more places than when I had the first round back in August, and unfortunately for me they are in areas where it is hard for me to scratch.  But I guess that should be a blessing since I can't scratch.

Windy and Rainy Saturday

 I was out early to the grocery store this morning and back before the big wind storm and rains started.  I'm in for the day and am going to do nothing.  The Old Man and I are waiting for the Navy football game to come on so we can cheer for them against Cincinnati.  

Shingles Update

 I am not happy to report that the itching with this second bout of shingles is much worse than the first - even with the meds.  But I am still thankful that I don't have the pain and blisters.  But the itching is more than enough to deal with.

I Am A Sure 'Nuff Homeowner

 In addition to buying a new hot water heater today, I received the annual property tax bill for The Compound.  The Old Man said that I am a sure 'nuff homeowner now!!

An Even More Disgusted Wednesday

 I am sorry to report that my shingles have returned.  Luckily, it's like it was back in August - just itching and some small rashes.  But it's still very annoying.  As soon as I post this I am heading to the drugstore to get my prescription and hopefully get some relief.

And tomorrow afternoon, the plumber will be here to install a new water heater.  But the current one is over 20 years old, so I think we got our money's worth.  The Old Man said he was rinsing off very fast when the hot water in the shower turned cool.

Disgusted Tuesday

 The Old Man and me, and 10 friends that we have been in touch with, are very disgusted today.  I am not going into detail, but suffice to say we are all disgusted about something political.  We hope this situation corrects itself soon, or we will all be more disgusted,
