Friday has come and gone, and the Return For Revenge is just a memory, or should I say a bad dream. I don't think there's been this much commotion in Louisville since the sewers blew up in 1980. I guess I should explain if you're reading this and have no idea what I'm talking about - last night was the over-hyped Mike Tyson fight here in Louisville. It's sad that the only reason he came here to fight was: 1, he is $27 million in debt and he needed the money, and 2, this is Ali's hometown. It was even sadder that the city went cuckoo over a convicted rapist coming to town. I think it was very cool that Mayor For Life Jerry called Tyson a bum. Oh well. It's over now, and Iron Mike got his ass kicked last night and was out for the count in the middle of the 4th round. I wish now I'd put some money on Williams. I'm sure the 17,000+ that paid big bucks to see that were kind of pissed - at least they should have gotten a few more rounds for their money. I'm sure the IRS was pissed, too - they were probably waiting in the dressing room to nab the prize money from Mike, had he won.
The 11:00 news last night said that Holyfield was there - even after Iron Mike bit his ear off years ago. They also said that Mr. T was there. I ask you - how cool would have it been to get your picture taken with Mr. T, or have him call someone on your cell and say "I pity the fool"? Always on the lookout for celebs in town, I would have went last night had I known Mr. T was going to be there. They said he had on a red, white, and blue shirt underneath the 87 pounds of gold necklaces. Maybe TV Land or Nick At Night will start showing old "The A Team" reruns. I think Mr. T is a preacher now.
The newspaper used the very catchy headline "Drilled in the 'Ville" as it showed Iron Mike sprawled out on the floor of the ring. Maybe the chamber of commerce needs to print that on t-shirts and sell them to tourists here.
