Back in the late 60s through the 70s, there was a very cool hamburger place here on Dixie Highway called the Red Barn. Use your imagination and you will be able to see the reason for the name. But I digress. It was a typical fast food joint, with tables for dining in. It was my favorite burger place to go because they had something "new" - a toppings bar. The toppings were nothing out of the ordinary - pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard and mayo. But you could put as much on your burger as you wanted. Our neighbor Alice, aka Muggs, would take me there on Fridays. Friday morning was her weekly trip to the beauty parlor and I would go with her. Afterward, we'd go about five minutes away to the Red Barn for lunch. Good times.
