Thankful Thursday

The Old Man and I are so happy beyond words tonight.  Two friends that we have been praying for daily for over a year got good news from their doctors today.  Every morning and every night for over a year, we have prayed for healing for these two.  We never thought it was lame to pray the same pray two times a day - the Lord knew that these two friends were on our hearts.  The Lord also knew what they needed, and He sure provided it in His time.  We, and they, never gave up on the Lord for answering the prayers.

We are going to keep lifting these two up in prayer every day.  As a dear old friend told me, it is a privilege to pray.

Wednesday Apologies

It has been a long week so far, faithful readers, dealing with insurance companies, the state, and the SSA for the Old Man's Dupixent shots and for my Sweet Mother's long-term care insurance covering her stay at the nursing home.  Believe me when I tell you it has worn me down.  But I am diligent.  I am polite and don't get bitchy with the many people I have talked to in the past two weeks.

Please say a prayer for continued patience for me, and for a resolution in both of these.

An Even Greater Sunday

I stepped out of my comfort zone today, and made a batch of strawberry freezer jam.  I can't give enough thanks to our Breckinridge County kin folk for bringing us the awesome strawberries they got from one of their Amish neighbors.

The Old Man and I made three 8 oz containers of the freezer jam.  We will keep one out and put the other two in the freezer tomorrow afternoon, as they have to sit for 24 hours.  So Tuesday morning, the Old Man and I will have toast and jam, and will give a review.

I think Gram and my Sweet Mother would be proud of me.

Great Saturday

Even though we had some storms this afternoon, and I did an hour's worth of manual labor outside this morning, we had a great Saturday.  The Old Man's two cousins and one of their spouses came up from Breckinridge County and spent the afternoon with us.  They even brought dinner for us, and gave us a gallon of sweet strawberries they got from one of their Amish neighbors.

We had an awesome time talking, laughing, and reminiscing.  We are already looking forward to our next time to get together.

Good Friday

Other than getting cloned again on Facebook, today was a good Friday.  And a Friday the 13th at that.

After work, I went to one of our favorite establishments, Bud's Tavern for carryout for supper.  An old friend from the plant at work was there, and he most graciously paid for our tab as an early retirement present.  He is probably the first friend I made out in the plant at work when I started there eons ago.  I went to school with his brother, so I already quasi-knew him.  He is a great guy and has been a great friend over the years.

And at work, my dear friend Grandmother helped me through a difficult situation - trying to scan and fax paperwork to Frankfort for the ongoing Dupixent saga.

I am truly going to miss my work friends.

Not Giving Up Hope

The ongoing battle with getting the Old Man his Dupixent shots with just a small co-pay continues.  Today we got a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services in Kentucky, saying they need proof of his checking and savings accounts.  That will take about two minutes to prove to them he doesn't have much.  So at least today's letter wasn't a big no.

As always, stay tuned.  We are not giving up on this fight.

Wednesday, Wednesday

It's been another stressful week for me, faithful readers.  I really don't have much to report today other than the usual battle over the a/c thermostat between me and the Old Man.  I had it set on 74 - what we have had it set on for summer for as long as we've had central a/c.  He swore it was 68 in the house when I got home.  Not sure where he got that from, other than the fact that I think he was messing with the thermostat and wouldn't admit it.  But I didn't press the issue.  I reset it to 74 and hopefully he'll warm up.  As I type this he's covered with his blanket, but he's not complaining too much.

Stay tuned.
