TGIF

It was an extremely long day today.  I worked from 5:45 until 4:45 today.  And I'm feeling it now.

I've had a good supper of fish from a local hood Catholic church, and I'm ready to put on my jams and get settled in for a probable nap followed by a good night's sleep.

Back In Time Out

Today I felt more tired than I'd been since I came back to work on  Monday.  So I am putting myself back In Time Out for another day or two so I get rest up and get my strength back.

I did great Monday through Wednesday, but today I was so tired in the afternoon.  Being extra busy at work did me in.  But I am going to bounce back without a doubt.

I've already got my game plan on for tonight - storms are forecasted, so I've secretly flipped the switch to a/c so the house will cool down a bit, and at 9:00 I will put in my ear plugs and go to bed and hopefully get a good night's sleep.  As I've said before, I've got to bet back to 100% for the new Project.

What A Wednesday

I busted a move today at work from 7:30 until I walked out the door at 4:30.  One of my "kids" is out on vacation this week, so I pitched in and did all of his scheduling, in addition to my work.  I don't think there was a minute in the work day that I wasn't busy.  But I got it done, and was able to leave on time for a change so I could zoom home and pick up the 'Rents to go out to dinner and shopping for our Major Project.  Now I'm worn out and ready for bed.

I'm Cautiously Out Of Time Out

I feel better today than I have in over a week, faithful readers.  So I am going to take myself out of Time Out.

I still feel tired, and still have some coughing, but I am 95% better than I was this time last week.

I've talked to a lot of friends that have had the same thing, and they've said that it took them three or four weeks to fully get over it.  I'm not looking forward to that, I'll tell you right now.  As Sweet Brown said in her TV news interview, ain't nobody got time for that.  Spring is here, and we are in the planning stage of a Major Project here at The Compound, and it requires the 'Rents and me to be up to 100%.  Stay tuned for details as our planning progresses.

I'm just happy I feel like I am back among the living.

Time Out Continues

I made it to work today, and made it through the whole day without feeling like I was going to fall asleep at any moment.

I didn't cough nearly as much today as I have in the past week, must to the joy of my coworkers who are within earshot.

I just need some more time to rest.  And that's what I'm going to do tonight.

Still On Time Out

I am still taking a much-needed time out, faithful readers.  The dreaded Plague, aka the coughing virus for which the doctors say there is no remedy other than time, has taken more of a toll on me than I'd thought.  I don't think I have ever felt as tired as I felt all day yesterday, so I stayed in and was either on the couch or bed all day long.

I feel better this morning, and the coughing has died down a bit, but I still feel tired.  So today I am taking another Time Out.  If you need me, I'll be either in bed or on the couch.

We're Still Number One

I am still proud to say that Team Puddin is still number one in the Zoeller Company Bracket Challenge.

We've had over a week to boast, but I'm afraid that after tonight's and tomorrow's games, we will be knocked down from our number one spot.

We're still happy that we've had one week of bragging rights.

Good Luck, Bellarmine

TWIT would like to congratulate our Bellarmine Knights on making it to the Final Four in the NCAA Division II tournament.  If they can beat Fairmont State tonight, they will make it to the tournament championship.

I have all the faith in the world in Coach Davenport.

Go Knights!

Time Out

In keeping with the March Madness theme, I'm afraid I"m going to have to take an official time out for a day or two.  Since last Thursday, I've been fighting a wicked cold.  One day I would feel better, and then the next day I would feel worse.   Today happened to be one of the "worse" days.  I'm praying it hasn't already morphed into bronchitis; as you know, I will wait till I am on my death bed before I go see a doctor and get even more wicked antibiotics.

After supper, I'm taking my homeopathic meds and going to bed. And praying for bettah dayz.

We're Still Number One!

I am very happy to report that Team PuddinPRP is still number 1 in the Zoeller Company NCAA tourney bracket.

I am going to be first to say that once the Sweet Sixteen games start this weekend, I'm pretty sure we'll drop down, but for now, we are still able to brag and say "We're Number 1"!!!  We will gladly hold onto our number one spot until we are bumped down.

March Madness

I would like to give major props to my Cousin Linda for her awesome picks in this year's NCAA tournament.  Out of the first 32 games, she correctly picked 25.  That's pretty darned good in my book.

For the past 10 years, I've entered the bracket contest at work using her picks. We haven't come very close to winning any of the jackpot money so far, but there's always this year.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Top o' the mornin' to you, ladds and lasses!  Here's one of my all-time fave jokes, that just happens to be an Irish joke.

Paddy O'Bryan was not home at his usual hour, and his wife Kathleen was fuming, as the clock ticked later and later. Finally, about 3:00 AM she heard a noise at the front door, and as she stood at the top of the stairs, there was her husband, drunk as a skunk, trying to navigate the stairs.

"Do you realize what time it is?" she said.

He answered, "Don't get excited, I'm late because I bought something for the house."

Immediately her attitude changed, and as she ran down the stairs to help him, she said, "What did you buy for the house, dear?"

His answered, "A round of drinks!"

Happy Birthday

TWIT and I would like to wish Nancy Wilson a very happy birthday. The goddess of the guitar is 63 years old.

Apologies

I apologize, faithful readers, for not posting something for you to faithfully read yesterday.  Things were kinda crazy here at The Compound last night.  Nothing major happened, but the 'Rents (especially The Old Man) weren't in a very good mood when I got home, and unfortunately their mood rubbed off on me.

Everyone is fine and happy now, and that's what matters.

Ohio Valley Weather Update

It's been snowing like crazy for the past three or four hours, but with the temperature slightly above freezing, it's melting as soon as it hits anything.  But it's still coming down pretty good, and it's getting close to 7:00, so the temps will be falling and I hope that it won't get slick.  The Divas decided to bail on Monday Night Trivia, in case the roads were slick later tonight.  I hope that doesn't make us sound like old women afraid to drive; I think it sounds like common sense women to me.  Better safe than sorry.

Way To Go, UK

TWIT would like to congratulate the UK Wildcats on winning the SEC tournament today.  This is the 30th time that the Wildcats have won the SEC tournament.  March madness has begun.

Today Was A Happy Day

Today was a happy day.  First of all, it was Distribution Day, aka Pay Day.  Second, I wore new shoes today.  I got a new pair of daily walking shoes (as shown in the picture on the left) and today they made their maiden voyage.  They felt as if I'd been wearing them for months.  I told Mom tonight that I think I could walk all day in the shoes. They made me happy.  And that's what counts.

Ohio Valley Weather Update

This afternoon, the temperature reached a high of 72 degrees.  At the same time we were reaching our daily high, the weather apps were sending out alerts to let us know that on Saturday we were having a freeze warning.  It doesn't make much sense, does it?

Happy Birthday, Gram

Today would have been my beloved Grandma's 111th birthday.  Yep, she was born in 1906, and lived to be 94 years old.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about her.  I am so thankful for the years that I had with her. She and Grandpa lived with us, and she was here with me when I was in elementary school while Mom and Dad had to work second shift.  She was the one that got me up in the mornings for school, made my breakfast and my lunch, and she was the one waiting at the front door when the bus dropped me off in the afternoon.

Gram loved holidays.  On Valentines Day, she would always make some flavor of red Jello in a heart-shaped pan.  On St. Patrick's Day she would always put green food coloring in mashed potatoes just for me.  On Easter, she would make her signature coconut cake, but would always leave the coconut off on a portion of the cake for me.  Yep, she spoiled me.  But then again, I spoiled her, too. So it was mutual.

I hope they are having a big birthday party for Gram up in heaven today.  She sure deserves it.

Public Service Announcement

Public Service Announcement for my coworkers and any FB friends or faithful readers that bank at Louchem Federal Credit Union -- there was a security breach, and some info has been hacked. They said that no accounts have been violated.  But as a precaution, they are cancelling all debit cards and issuing new ones.

If your account is affected, they will call you. I just wanted you to know so you didn't disregard their call as just another telemarketer phone call. They left three voicemail messages for me tonight while I was shopping in Walmart after work. I called when I got back to the car and got my phone. Sure, it's a big inconvenience that I will be without a debit card for a week or so until the new one comes in the mail, but it's a small price to pay for the peace of mind knowing that some low-life SOB didn't drain my checking account and cause me a mountain of problems to get my money back.

Thank you Louchem Federal Credit Union for being proactive and protecting what little money I have in your financial institution.

The Queen of the Class Action

As I've mentioned before, I consider myself the Queen of the Class Action Lawsuit.  I'm always getting checks in the mail when a class action suit has settled.  It's varied from a few dollars to as much as 35 bucks. But on Saturday, I hit the mother lode.  I got a check for $134.

Diva Stacy asked me about this today, and wanted to know how I know about these suits.  I had to tell her that it was all because of Big Brother.  I get notified when there is a class action suit against a product that I purchased online or elsewhere; "they" know I bought the item and their lawyers go through the information in "the cloud" and notify me by snail mail or email.  Let's be real - how can we be naive to believe that our information is not available out on the world wide web or in the cloud.

Anyhoo, I'm just happy I got $134.  I'm going to use it to buy some new luggage.  Not that I'm going anywhere exciting, but just in the remote chance I do, I will have cool new luggage to take my duds with me.

That Dark Cloud Is Back Again

Unfortunately, that dark cloud is back again.  In the past 4 days, I've had three friends lose the dear women that raised them.  And I have three friends who have dear loved ones in the hospital right now.  And also one dear friend in the hospital herself.

That dark cloud sure needs to move on and give everyone some peace, comfort, healing, and relief.

Sore Saturday

My right knee has been giving me fits all day long.  It was a little bit sore this morning when I woke up, and has gotten progressively worse as the day has gone on.  This is the same knee that I busted during one of our ice storms years ago.  It doesn't always hurt, but when it does, it's a doozy.  And unfortunately today has been a doozy.

I'm getting ready to go heat up my gel pack in the microwave and hope that will give me some relief.  I don't like this interfering with my daily steps.

Flashback Friday

Back in the day, every Friday we would have fish from Eddie's Seafood House or Mike Linnig's.  Usually it was from Eddie's.  But I digress.  That was the the ritual.  It didn't matter if it was during Lent or not, on Fridays after work, Mom and Dad would stop at Eddie's Seafood House on their way home from work and get fish for Friday night supper.

As a kid, I never think that Mom or Dad or Grandma and Grandpa would complain about our order being wrong.  It always seemed right.  Not today.

I went to a local Catholic church tonight for our Friday fish, just to give them the business, and when I got home, our order was totally wrong.  We ate what they gave us, but shame on me for not checking when I picked up the bags at the counter.  I was distracted by chatting with our former neighbors PS and Bev.  I've learned my lesson.  If I get fish from the same place next week, I will be sure to go through every styrofoam container in the bags and make sure you didn't short me like you did this week.

So Happy It's Thursday

I'm not ashamed to admit that I was still sleepy today after being up most of the night on Tuesday night with the storms that passed through.  And I am already not looking forward to tomorrow, since it is Early Friday.

I've never tried one of those Five Hour Energy shots, but I think tomorrow I might have to.

Welcome March

March sure came in like a whole herd/pack/whatever of lions.  Everyone within a 5 county radius of Louisville was like a walking zombie today because they didn't get much sleep last night due to the wicked storms that rolled through at about 2:30 and a second time at 6:30.  Schools were cancelled or delayed throughout the area due to the bad storms.

Luckily other than a few limbs down, we made it through OK here at The Compound.  But we are all sleepy and I can bet you that we will all three be in bed well before 10:00 tonight.
